Education:

Bachelor’s Degree: B.S in Psychology from the University of Iowa in 2014.
Master’s Degree: Social Work in 2016

Passed my Licensing exam in May of 2016

Experience: Most of my experiences come from internships and volunteering. I volunteered in the Child Psychiatric Ward during my undergrad years as well as worked in a language development lab with children. I interned for Orchard Place my first year of graduate school and then at Allen Hospital in the Outpatient Mental Health Unit in Waterloo for my second year of graduate school. I worked for a new organization called Heart and Solutions, before returning to Orchard Place in December, 2016 and working at Walnut Street School.

Family/Hobbies: I grew up in Marshalltown IA but also lived in Japan for a year when I was 4. I am not married and do not have kids, but I enjoy spending time with my friends, traveling, reading, working out, and binge watching Netflix.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree:Communication Disorders from University of Northern Iowa 1993

Master’s Degree: Speech and Language Pathology from University of Northern Iowa 1995

Hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association

Experience: I worked at Mercy Hospital for five years in adult rehabilitation and pediatric outpatient services.  I have worked for the Des Moines Public Schools since 2000 and have served students of all ages across the district. I have been serving Walnut Street School since 2014.

Family/Hobbies: I grew up in New Hampton, IA. I enjoy spending time and traveling with my husband and two children. I enjoy reading, riding bike, playing cards, being with friends, and watching my son play sports.

Teaching Experience: I began my counseling career with Des Moines Public Schools in 2015. This is my 2nd year with the district, 1st year at Walnut Street!

Family/ Hobbies: I am originally from Dubuque, IA; but have made Des Moines my home with my fiance, Jay. We live in Beaverdale and love the community! Outside of work, I enjoy running, yoga and anything outdoors. I’m currently training for my 4th marathon and running the Boston Marathon in April of 2018.  I love spending time with my nephew who is 4 years old and my family. I’ve made it a goal this year to be a bit more adventurous with cooking and look forward to travelling and exploring new places and cultures with those I love!
