WSS will be having our annual K-5 Olympics Day on Friday, May 23 at Pete Crivaro Park from 10:00-1:30. Parents are invited and encouraged to attend. It will be a fun day for all!

WSS is hosting Cultural Night on Tuesday, May 13th from 6:00-7:30 PM. We will learn more about Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Tajikistan, Japan and Vietnam.
WSS Kindergarteners spent the afternoon of Monday, May 12th at the Des Moines Botanical Center. They learned about plants, and even got to plant some!
Our students walked together through downtown to celebrate physical fitness and healthy living as part of Go the Distance Day. Luck was with us and we had sunny skies and warm temperatures. At an International Baccalaureate school, Walnut Street students learn about life beyond the classroom. Their capstone project explored hunger, civil rights/equality, deforestation, bullying, access to technology, children’s rights, homelessness, and community activism. Walnut Street School 5th graders had their IB PYP Exhibition. This is the culminating event for elementary students at IB PYP World schools. Students showcased their learning, inquiry, and action around topics with global significance and local impact.
