I enjoy spending time with my husband Ben and my daughter Kylie. I enjoy traveling, swimming, reading and movies.

Biography

BA in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education-UNI 1998.  MA of Education 2015 Iowa State.

I have been teaching since 1998.  I started in early childhood education, then in 2011 I began teaching in special education in the elementary setting at Walnut Street School in the SLC program, after returning to school to earn my Strategist II endorsement.

I enjoy spending time with my family; Brian my husband, Olivia my eldest daughter and Abbi, my youngest daughter.  The girls and I like to ride our horses, Tonka and Lacy.  We have a dog, cat, and a guinea pig at home too.  When we can, our family also enjoys traveling.

Teaching Experience: I have been teaching since 2008 and teaching at Walnut Street School since 2014.

Family/Hobbies:

I love to spend time with my husband John, as well as extended family and friends in Iowa  I love to travel even though I’m not a frequent traveller. I love to visit  Hawaii, New York and Rhode Island to see the sights as well as spend time with family and friends.  I love to read mysteries, watch movies, stream TV series, bike the trails in central Iowa, eat and try new foods, restaurants, food trucks, and work out at the Y. I also love to putter around the yard/garden in the summer.

  • I have been with Des Moines Public Schools since 1991 serving in various capacities. I started as the SLC Behavior Program Facilitator at WSS in 2014.

Family/ Hobbies:

I enjoy spending time with my family and friends as well as my dog, Hank.  I also enjoy playing board games, traveling, and shopping.

I’ve worked for DMPS from 2008-2016 as a Substitute Teacher. This is my first year working at Walnut Street School.

Family/Hobbies: On breaks I like to visit my brothers and mom and dad that have a ranch in Nebraska. When I’m not working as a security guard at Wells Fargo Arena, I like to cook, garden, read, workout, play with my cat, and watch live music.
